Saxilby and District History Group

In association with Heritage Lincolnshire, we hold an exhibition in the Village Hall as part of the annual Heritage Open Days, and attract several hundred visitors.

We assisted Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership in the refurbishment of the Foss Canal Moorings, providing them with photographs and text for the information displays. Further interpretation panels have been added recently with the help of the Canal & River Trust.

The Group published a History Trail leaflet a few years ago. We have added to this by erecting twentyfour plaques on buildings of interest around the village. The plaques show early 20th century photographs of the site, and give a brief description. We were recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology for this project.
